Last week I took a class with Nancy Brenan Daniel. I signed up at the last minute and didn’t really know what to expect, but I had a great time. We started with strip sets and cut them at an angle. This resulted in two different squares, a light and a dark.

Fishies Quilt

This quilt was all about techniques. I wanted to try my hand at paper piecing. With a new nephew on the way and a fun pattern I found in the Nov. 2003 The Quilter Magazine, I had a great opportunity to try a new process. It went together fairly easily, but I am not in [...]

I made this quilt for Bill’s manager to celebrate the team boat trips. It incorporates photo printed cotton fabric photos and hand-dyed flannels in a raw edge quilt design. I really love how quickly these raw edge quilts come together.
There are 27 photos and 21 different colors of blue and green fabric.

Kristen and I wanted to surprise a friend for her birthday. We decided to make a neutral toned raw edge quilt with a couple splashes of color.
This quilt is made up of 36 different colors and is 50 x 70 inches.

I decided to try out a raw edge piecing technique. I based the size of the squares on the width of my ruler to simplify cutting. I also decided to use a half inch seam allowance. I chose this size to cut down on the amount of fabric, but after seeing the completed quilt I [...]

Think Spring Quilts

This quilt was inspired by a quilt in Batik Beauties.
Since both of our families live in cold climates we decided they needed lap quilts to remind them of spring and to keep them warm through the winter. We decided to take pictures of the beautiful flowers in Northern California, print them on fabric and incorporate [...]
